Northumberland County Cricket Club Fixtures

By NEPL Editor

The fixtures for Northumberland’s matches in 2019 have been announced.

The season starts with two T20 matches at Grantham on Sunday 5 May with the first T20 matches at Jesmond being on Sunday 19 May. On Sunday 26 May the County play Staffordshire away with the final two group matches being at Jesmond against Cheshire on Sunday 9 June. Northumberland narrowly missed out on qualifying for Finals Day in 2018, when they finished second in Group 1 to Cheshire on net run rate.

In the 50 over a side knockout competition Northumberland travel to New Brighton on Sunday 12 May to play Cheshire.

The 3 day County Championship season starts with a match against Bedfordshire at Swalwell Cricket Club on 23–25 June. Northumberland’s two other home matches will both be played at Jesmond, against Hertfordshire on 4–6 August and against Cambridgeshire on 18–20 August. The three away matches are against Buckinghamshire (21-23 July), Norfolk (11-13 August) and Suffolk (1-3 September).

Tom Cant, captain of Tynedale Cricket Club, will again captain Northumberland. Tom said: “We are hoping to build on our performances in 2018 when a number of promising young players made their debuts for the County. These players will have benefitted from their experience and established players such as Oli McGee, Sean Tindale and James Thompson will all be available again.”
