South Northumberland into ECB Regional Final

North East Premier League side reaches ECB Club National Championship Regional Final

South Northumberland progressed into the ECB National Club Championship Regional Final yesterday after victory over Barnard Castle. South Northumberland won the toss and elected to bat with Marcus North leading the way with 108 from 95 balls including nine fours, and six sixes, while Jonathan Craigs added 44 from 87 balls. Barnard Castle did show some hope in reply as Simon Richard Tennant scored 73 along with 52 from Richard Borrowdale coming in number 5. But 5 wickets for Jonathan Wightman in 8.5 overs and 2 apiece from Lee Crozier and 2 from Thomas Hodnett saw the Bulls home by 23 runs in 43.5 overs.

Meanwhile Chester le Street's crashed out after going down by 88 runs to York at Ropery Lane. York won the toss and elected to bat amassing 308/5 from 45 overs as opener Duncan Snell led the way with 132 from 144 balls supported by 58 from Adam McAuley. Stephen Cantwell bagged 2-50 from 9 overs while Adam Hickey and John Richard Harrison struck once. Chester posted 78 before the first wicket fell when George William Harrison was dismissed but Kyle Davis was still in the middle as he went onto score 62 from 45 balls. Hughes added 23 from 22 batting 5, but Chester le Street were bowled out in 33.3 overs.

South Northumberand now face York CC in the ECB National Club Championship Regional Final on Sunday 26t June at Roseworth Terrace.
