Durham and North East Branch of The Cricket Society

The Durham and North East Branch of the Cricket Society meets regularly during the autumn and winter months to hear a wide variety of speakers talk on cricket matters, providing their unique perspective on events and issues.

Players , coaches, administrators, writers, broadcasters, historians -all people who have a great love for and knowledge of the game- speak regularly at our monthly meetings which are held ,usually ,at The Emirates, Chester le Street from October to March.

Membership of the Society, for the modest sum of £21 (full membership- concessions available), provides
• a news bulletin (packed with interesting articles, book reviews, original statistical material and an extensive letters page debating current cricket issues) 8 times a year ,
• a twice yearly highly acclaimed Journal(72 pages of cricket articles by new and established writers on cricket matters past and present)
• detailed book reviews.

The first meeting of the 2018/19 ‘season’ is on Thursday 4th October , 2018 starting a 7:30 pm in The Colin Milburn Lounge, Emirates Chester le Street.

The speaker is Alan Butcher former player with Surrey , Glamorgan and England, former coach at Essex and Surrey and ,more recently, Zimbabwe where he was charged with rejuvenating their Test team.

On Thursday 1st November the speaker is Tim Bostock, the new Durham CEO.
The December meeting, on 6th December is the annual quiz, including a cricket section.
In January, on 3rd, the speaker will be Gordon Muchall.

There is no entry charge to meetings.

Three new additions for 2019 Following yesterday's results Crook, Shotley Bridge and Ashington will be promoted to the NEPL First Division for the 2019 season. We look forward to welcoming you to the North East Premier League in 2019.
