Junior Presentation Night a huge sucess.

On Tuesday night, Chester le Street Cricket Club hosted the annual North East Premier League Junior awards evening to celebrate cricket achievement of junior cricketers in the North East Premier League.

The awards going on NEPL cup performances, throughout the summer holidays.

The night included a quiz and a question and answer session with former Durham Cricketer, Gareth Breese.

Each club nominated 3 players at Under 11s, 13s and 15s level based on their performances in the NEPL Cup games. From the nominations an overall player of the season for each age group was chosen along with a Silver and Gold award.

Hetton Lyons (Under 11s), South Shields (Under 13s), Benwell Hill (Under 15s Shield), Tudhoe (Under 15s Cup) and Mainsforth (Under 15s Shield) all picked up trophies for winning their respective age group cups.

Under 11s Bronze award went to Max Jackson from Chester le Street, with the silver runner up award going to Matthew May of South Shields for his terrific bowling spells in the competition which he bowled 16 overs, 10 maidens taking 5 wickets for just 19 runs. The Under 11s gold player of the season went to Jack Hedley from Hetton Lyons which he scored 108 runs in the competition with average of 49.

Josh Metcalfe of Chester le Street picked up the bronze award in the Under 13s category after his 30 not out in the Cup Semi-final with Josh coming to the crease when Chester le Street were 9-3. The silver runner up award went to Logan Barton from Hetton Lyons with South Shield’s Ben Scott picking up the gold player of the season award.

In the Under 15 awards it was Eppleton’s Jake Pratt who was Silver Runner Up for the Plaque in which he scored 111 runs at an average of 37. The Plaque winner went to Lachlan Marron of Mainsforth for an outstanding competition in which he played three innings scoring 241 runs, including two centuries at an average of 241.

The Bronze winner in the cup competition was Dean Storey, silver runner up was Matthew Walmsley with the winner going to Josh Farlow of Tudhoe after a top score of 98.

Finally, the bronze winner in the Under 15s Shield went to Finn Hebron, silver award going to Joe Anderson from Benwell Hill who scored 109 runs with a top score of 102no and 4-50. The overall Shield player of the season went to Hetton Lyons’ Logan Barton after he scored 181 in the competition with a top score of 75* at an average of 90.5
