The NEPL season finally kicked off yesterday after last weeks schedule was washed out.

The opening fixtures of the season saw some high runs scored including centuries in lots of yesterday's fixtures. Three centuries were scored at Preston Avenue, two for South Northumberland with Simon
Birtwistle and Marcus North both scoring centuries in addition to Stuart Poynter scoring 100 for Tynemouth despite being on the losing side. Two centuries were also scored at Eastwood Gardens as Tim David (113) and Gordon Muchall (107) both scored centuries for South Shields. Daniel Shurben opened the season with an 100 from 122 balls in Whitburn's game against Durham Academy.

After the rain of the previous week it is fantastic to see pitches producing as many hundreds. This is Testament to our Club's efforts for getting pitches ready for this weekend.
