Mustard, 33 from Sunderland has a wealth of experience in the game scoring 7613 first class runs with an average of 29.73 making his debut for Durham in 2002. Mustard has also played ODI cricket for England in which he made his debut against New Zealand at Christchurch on October 1st 2007.
Having such as well known member of the Durham squad umpiring in the North East Premier League is outstanding and fantastic for the league.
Umpires Coordinator Peter Brown said " “Phil has taken and passed the Level 1 Umpires examination and will now gain some valuable experience in the field with an experienced umpire/mentor. His umpiring time is limited at present and will be only available at certain times of the year but we are pleased to accommodate Phil and wish him the best of luck”
